With 34 years operating school camps in South Australia, approximately 3,000 students per year equals a lot of kids that have had the Narnu Farm camp experience!
For many it’s part of growing up in South Australia!
School camps are the heart of Narnu Farm and it’s all about creating memories that last a life time. The unique Narnu formula combines a fascinating educational experience with some old fashioned fun all in a safe environment! With our farm camp program kids are outside in the fresh air interacting with animals, riding horses, hand ploughing with a huge Clydesdale, riding on a vintage truck, seeing how a horse shoe is made as well as learning the age old art of butter making.
Pictures speak louder than words so we thought we would get Emma one of our staff (and big kid herself) to follow the students of Cedar College with her trusty camera to capture all the fun. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the students and teachers of Cedar College.
PIONEERING DAYS: Hand Ploughing, Blacksmithing and Butter Making
This experience takes kids back in time to see what it was like to be a farmer and a kid in the old days. They soon get to realise life is pretty easy now!
HI HO SILVER! Riding a horse, fun, fun, fun!
Horse riding is especially fun on our beautiful quiet Narnu horses! The horses all have different characters just like the kids from Toby the Mohawk man who likes to fall asleep in class to Keely the smallest horse know as the pocket rocket. Kids get to learn the basics in the large indoor riding arena before enjoying the scenery of the farm on horse back.
CARROT MUNCHING FUN on the truck ride
The truck ride is an experience like no other. Kids take a ride in our restored Bedford truck to visit and feed carrots to the famous Narnu horses including the big fella Blue who is so friendly he will stick his head right in the truck! Some of the horses think it is a great game to chase the truck providing loads of entertainment.
WE CAN’T FORGET CUTE FARM ANIMALS
Deer, piglets, lambs, goats, chickens, calves, rabbits, guinea pigs and they all need feeding and cuddles.
Sssssssssssssss……….. Yes that’s right Snakes! Don’t be frightened though. Professional snake handler Wendy will share her passion for snakes and kids and adults are guaranteed to learn something new in this informative session plus get the chance to get up close and personal!
Aside from all the learning that happens, camp is all about connection and getting to know each other. It gives kids valuable life skills and independence. Kids learn so much about themselves and each other and challenge themselves in ways they didn’t think possible. This is how we create those unmissable smiles and life long memories.
We love Narnu Farm and if you’re a teacher or a parent we know your kids will too!
